PLDT and Smart maintains their lead as the fastest data provider in the Philippines. Based on the study of Ookla for the first half of 2019, both providers posts the fastest fixed and mobile data in the Philippines.
Based on the Ookla report, PLDT achieves a Speed Score of 20.44 with the highest download speeds of 51.36Mbps and upload speeds of 54.22. This test was based on tests was performed 25,169,867 customer-initiated Speedtest nationwide for the same period.
For mobile data, Smart is able to reach a Speed Score of 17.07 with download and upload speeds averaging at 19.33Mbps and 9.16Mbps, respectively. The score was interpolated from 1,857,286 consumer-initiated Speedtest on LTE-capable devices in the Philippines.
Initial data shows that PLDT leads in key cities such as Quezon City, Cebu City, and Pasic, whereas Smart’s Speed Score doubles the score of the competition in cities like Quezon City, Makati and, Manila.
“Our network investments have considerably improved customer experience so that they can now watch videos without buffering, update their social media accounts, or easily check their email and open attachments while on-the-go,” said Mario G.
