Last year, PLDT has covered Cavite with fiber services. This year, PLDT has stepped up in rolling out their fiber services, which has led to a report from Ookla saying that the Philippines’ download speeds has incread from 10.16Mbps to 15.67Mbps while upload speeds are up from 7.28Mbps to 13.53Mbps.

At the end of 2017, PLDT’s Fiber-to-the-Home network had reached four million homes. PLDT is expecting to reach more homes and businesses across the country as it expands its broadband coverage about 30% to 5.1 million homes.

“These results reflect the growing impact of our ongoing efforts to provide fiber-powered broadband services to more customers in more areas of the country,” said Oscar A. Reyes, Jr., PLDT SVP and Head of Consumer Business Market Development.

Copper users need not worry as PLDT is upgrading its copper-based broadband service to hybrid fiber connections. It is expected that most of PLDT’s 1.3 million coppoer subscribers will enjoy faster Internet connection.
