The POCO F6 is a smartphone that keeps on popping out cause of its lucrative specification of having a flagship class Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor starting at Php23,699 SRP for the base 256GB model. So that’s why tech enthusiasts will seriously consider this smartphone especially if you are a techie person with a budget.
So what’s inside the package of the POCO F6?
Note: POCO the official name of the Potato Corner isn’t included in the package
Keeping it simple the POCO F6 is similar in body to the Redmi Note 13 series which has a sandblasted non-reflective surface but still being tactile versus glass. Though we admit that the feel is obviously all-plastic, but its solid nevertheless. At the back we have a 50MP Rear Camera Sony IMX882 Sensor and an 8MP Ultra-wide camera, don’t be fooled by the flash area as its just a faux camera to give an impression of being a triple camera system.
We like the Green color of the POCO F6 which is just light in hue and making it simple and elegant in appearance. Corners are properly curved with no annoying edges, so its handy and feels nice to hold to the hand. Also applies using the included silicon case, the matte silicon texture is complementary to the texture of the phone.
The chin of the POCO F6 is also the same as flagship smartphones with an even bezel implementation compared to flagship smartphones.
Simcard is dual slot, though no eSIM support available unfortunately.
The 50MP main camera is decent enough with proper colors captured, but encountering some challenges in shutter speed especially in dark scenarios. This photo of Golden the cat at Greenbelt 5 is fairly acceptable, though we wished the fur was captured a bit more and not overall flat.
Colin of Ungeek.ph is seen here wearing black, at the same time the restaurant staff at the back also wearing black is blurry cause of the challenging scenario of the phone thinks that the photo is overall night despite that its not. This is a common challenge for smartphones without a dedicated chip for imaging.
Taking photos of still objects is great, details are captured well as long as lighting is acceptable.
Portrait mode is also nice with good bokeh implementation for a more creative approach for your photography.
Of course installing Genshin Impact is easy in the POCO F6, the CrystalRes Flow AMOLED display is bright and vibrant plus accompanied with stereo speakers to be more immersive. Initial impression of the performance of the Phone in High Settings and 60fps in Genshin is decent, just make sure you are in a cool environment for better consistency of frame rates.
Its really puzzling how POCO is able to squeeze a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor at the price of Php21,699. Though cause of the pricing, expect basic features in other areas such as photography and the overall build quality of the smartphone.
Using the POCO F6 for the past week indeed made us realize and understood the positioning of POCO in the market. We can call the POCO F6 a “Basic Premium” smartphone, addressing the needs of budget tight consumers by delivering a decent features, but a very strong SOC for the needs of more performance vs other phones within its price range. .
Pricing for the POCO F6 is available in three variants and we think it really answers the need of who desires a flagship processor without the flagship price. Available in three colors of Green, Titanium and Black.
