Rapoo A500: Every Man’s Bluetooth AND NFC Speaker

When it comes to choosing Bluetooth speakers, we can’t help but be flustered by the number of choices that appear before us. Thankfully, we have review sites that can help us in our decision. Sites such as Team Tech Squad! Anyhow, we came across a Bluetooth speaker made by Rapoo in the form of the A500. How does it fare? Read on!

Sexy with a touch of gold-ish.

The A500 comes encased in a transparent casing with the device itself resting on a plastic body. Aside from the product itself, the set also includes a carry bag, a USB to mUSB cable, and a 3.5mm audio cord.  We had to sum that up in two sentences so as to give justice to the effort done by Rapoo in the packaging.

A500 - Unboxing (1)

Unlike the usual brick/box form, the A500 tries to be different by showcasing round corners, similar to a boat. The body is of hard plastic material and emanates a sense of class. At the lower rear part of the device are the controls, namely the on/off button, the USB port, and the AUX audio port. Topside is home to the volume controls and the Bluetooth sense button. On the right side of the top buttons is the NFC ship for the tap and play function.

Performing conveniently

For the performance of the device, please allow us to indulge in the telling of a short story pertaining to the matter as it would be different and possibly more enjoyable rather than a straight-forward review.

“I came home, tired from the long gruels of my day job. I glanced upon this eye-catching device. Speakers, winking at me with its rustic gold color. Feeling the heavy stress and the temptation to get near the device, my right-hand moved on its own accord, taking hold of my phone. My NFC-enabled phone. My heart skipped a beat. Without the usual strength of an elephant, I tapped the phone on the A500. The response was quick. Quicker than what I expected. A beep noise signaled the merry entwining of the two testaments of man’s ingenuity.

A500 - Run Mode (1)

Out blurted the tunes that I longed to hear. They were loud… but they lack bass. I’ve came across a number of NFC speakers in my lifetime and this one is evidently lacking in thump. I wasn’t disappointed and a part of me expected it. Maybe beauty does indeed sacrifice some things in the inside.

Feeling aloof, I went to my room, carrying the speaker and not the phone. Why? I don’t know. The distance was that of a typical Bluetooth device, a couple of thick concrete walls and the tunes go haywire.  Standard and nothing special are two things that can describe the wireless connectivity.”

Conclusion

With such a long performance review, there’s a huge possibility that you went TL:DR on that one. Anyhow, here’s the gist: the Rapoo A500 is a good and decent Bluetooth NFC speaker, just not very special. Even after having more than a normal human being’s fair share of wireless speakers, we can say that the A500 is something we’re willing to remember. Just take note that even though it lacks in bass, you certainly can buy class with the A500.

Pros:

-Sylish design

-Package comes with a carry bag and cords.

-Functional NFC.

Cons:

-No playback via USB

-Poor bass

-The color white is a dirt/dust magnet.
