Razer’s first smartphone is finally official. After their acquisition of Nexbit, the gaming manufacturer was poised to enter the smartphone market. Their new Razer Phone packs top-notch specs but the most interesting feature of the smartphone is its variable refresh rate display with refresh rates of up to 120Hz.
The Razer Phone comes with a 5.7-inch Sharp IGZO screen at a resolution of 2560 x 1440 and refresh rates of up to 120Hz. Pushing the QHD display is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, a standard SoC for high-end smartphones. The Snapdragon 835 is complemented by 8GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.
Imaging is handled by dual 12MP + 13MP cameras at the back; the 12MP shooter has an f/1.75 lens for wide-angle shots while the 13MP camera has an aperture of f/2.6 and is geared more for telephoto shots.
Despite its high-end specifications, the Razer Phone does not come with a 3.5mm headphone jack, which would a disappointment for audiophiles everywhere especially since there is a 24-bit DAC inside the phone. The handset makes up for the lack of a headphone jack with stereo front-facing speakers with support for Dolby Atmos support. Furthermore, Razer is including a USB Type-C to 3.5mm adapter for those who don’t want to use a Bluetooth headset.
Power is supplied by a 4,000mAh battery and further bolstered with the Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+. And no, the Razer Phone doesn’t come with RGB. Here are the Razer Phone’s full specs:
