The realme 12 Pro series and its periscope telephoto lens were previewed at CES 2024 following the unveiling of its new slogan Make it Real. Aside from its new cameras, realme has showcased the luxury watch design of their upcoming smartphones.
According to the company, there is a growing preference among younger users for telephoto lenses with 3x zoom and more. They say that the only viable choice is using a periscope telephoto to enable high zoom levels. Though it may come with higher costs and challengers usually done for flagships, realme is committing to bridge this gap by making flagship periscope telephotos available to a wider audience.
realme’s first smartphone to come with a periscope telephoto shooter was the GT5 Pro, which launched globally back in November 2023. The upcoming 12 Pro series will adopt the same approach that integrates a leading sensor size, a high-performance platform, and an advanced algorithm to achieve better imaging performance.
The approaching realme 12 Pro series promises enhanced night shot clarity and stability while minimizing flare and ghosting. They achieve this by using a combination of OIS, sub-wavelength structure coating that minimized reflections, and a wave pattern lens shade.
Their telephoto camera will also offer up to 120X digital zoom, a 3X Portrait Mode with a 71mm focal length for portraits, and a OV64B flagship sensor that they claim to be nearly three times more light-sensitive than the sensor on the iPhone 15 Pro.
Aside from its periscope telephoto camera, the 12 Pro series will come with a main camera with a Sony IMX890 camera, a 24mm focal length, an f/1.8 aperture, and OIS. Using its periscope telephoto and ultrawide camera enables lossless zoom levels at 0.6x up to 5x, which they same comparable to a flagship device.
Together with Qualcomm, they have improved MasterShot Algorithm. The 12 Pro Series will process RAW shots to ensure better photo quality. Its algorithm integrates LightFusion Engine for clarity and tone, as well as NightEye Engine for night photography.
realme has also collaborated with Olliver Savéo, international luxury watch design master, to make a sophisticated luxury watch design for the 12 Pro series. Some of the key design features on the smartphone include a Golden Fluted Bezel, Polished Sunburst Dial, Premium Vegan Leather, and a 3D Jubilee Bracelet.
