Its time again for realme to refresh their mainline numbered series. This time around, they are launching the realme 8 and realme 8 Pro. Both come with rather incremental upgrades from their predecessors, but the latter will now come with a 108MP main lens at the back.
The realme 8 Pro still comes with a 6.4-inch SuperAMOLED display at 2400 x 1080 and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Its selfie camera is now a 16MP f/2.45 shooter and powered by a Sony IMX 471 sensor.
The real highlight on the 8 Pro is its main rear camera. Instead of a 64MP lens, it now has an upgraded 108MP f/1.9 primary camera at the back powered by the Samsung HM2 sensor. It promises great low-light performance thanks to a large 1/1.52-inch sensor.
In addition to the improved main lens, the smartphone is backed by an 8MP f/2.25 ultrawide and two 2MP f/2.4 lenses for macro and mono. It gets a 4,500mAh battery that supports 50W SuperDart charging.
The vanilla version of the series gets the same 6.4-inch SuperAMOLED 2400 x 1080 screen and comes with a MediaTek Helio G95 chip with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. Its front-facing camera is also the same 16MP f/2.45 lens with a Sony IMX 471 sensor.
At the back are four cameras: a 64Mp f/1.9 primary lens, an 8MP f/2.25 ultrawide, and again two 2MP f/2.4 lenses for macro and mono. Battery capacity remains the same at 4,500mAh but gets support for a relatively slower 30W Dart Charge.
Both the realme 8 and 8 Pro are now available in India for INR 15,000 (PhP 10,000) and INR 18,000 (PhP 12,000), respectively. They will arrive in the UK on March 31, 2021 with the 8GB/128GB model of the 8 Pro selling for GBP 270 (PhP 18,000).
No word yet if either smartphone will arrive in the Philippines. Given the brand’s record in the Philippines, however, we expect to receive announcement about their local launch sometime soon.
