The realme V5 has been officially launched in China. As the first entry in their V series, the realme V5 has been pegged as one of the cheapest 5G smartphones to date with a starting price of CNY 1,499 or around USD 215.

The realme V5 comes with a 6.5-inch 90Hz display and a 16MP front-facing camera on its punch-hole. At the back is a quad camera arrangement composed of a 48MP f/1.8 main camera, an 8MP ultrawide, a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor, as well as a 2MP macro lens with a focusing distance of 4cm.

Thanks to its Dimensity 720 chipset courtesy of MediaTek, the realme V5 is able to take advtange of 5G networks. The brand says that the smartphone can automatically switch from 5G to 4G in order to save battery. The device can be decked with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM but both will come with 128GB of expandable storage.

The V5 is powered by a 5,000mAh battery and has 30W Fast Charging via its USB Type-C port at the bottom. It integrates the fingerprint scanner onto the power button much like the realme 6 series.

The realme V5 will be available in Silver, Blue, and Green models. The 6GB version will be sold at CNY 1,499 (USD 215) while the 8GB variant is set at CNY 1,899 (USD 270). Orders in China will start shipping on August 7, 2020. No word yet if the V5 will arrive in the Philippines.
