The ROG Ally X will officially arrive in the Philippines on August 23, 2024. First introduced back in Computex 2024, the Ally X is the latest iteration of their handheld gaming PC packing a larger battery, bigger storage options, and a new black colorway.
The ROG Ally X comes with plenty of improvements over its predecessor. It now comes with double the battery and storage at 80Whr and 1TB PCIe 4.0 2280 SSD, respectively. Its joysticks are made more durable rated at 5 million cycles with lighter springs though it should be noted that are still not using hall effect sensors.
The handheld has improved tactility on its face buttons and the rear buttons are now smaller than before. The white colorway of the original ROG Ally might be great for aesthetics, but is arguably terrible for a handheld. The Ally X remedies this with a gamer-oriented black design.
While the Ally X is still based on the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme platform with a 7-inch 1080p 120Hz screen, ASUS has increased its RAM to 24GB LPDDR5-7500. They have also redesigned the internals and its cooling system to make it thinner while having 24% more air being moved. This cooling improvements also reduces heat from the screen by up to 6°C and draws heat away from the microSD slot.
ASUS replaces the ROG XG Mobile Interface with a traditional two USB-C 3.2 Gen2 and USB 4 ports that can be used as expansion slots for a dock or for external GPUs to improve graphical performance.
The ROG Ally X is priced at USD 799 globally. Official pricing and availability in the Philippines will be announced on its launch on August 23, 2024. Stay tuned.
