ROG Phone 9 series teased to launch in PH

The ROG Phone 9 series are set to make their debut in the Philippines. The 2025 refresh of ASUS’ gaming smartphone lineup will come with several upgrades including a more powerful chipset, IP68 rating, improved cameras, and a larger battery capacity.

According to their official teaser, ASUS will be launching the ROG Phone 9 Series in the Philippines on March 13, 2025. Official pricing and availability, however, are yet to be announced. More details will be available in the coming days.

Unveiled late last year, the ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro/Pro Edition are now powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip complemented by up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.0 storage. A larger graphite sheet is used to cool down its chip and improve performance, plus cooling is further enhanced with the AeroActive Cooler X Pro.

Speaking of the AeroActive Cooler X Pro, the cooling accessory returns with a subwoofer to complement the ROG Phone 9 Series’ Dirac-tuned dual speakers. Additionally, it adds tactile feel to the smartphone’s AirTriggers and its cooling is now 29% better compared to its predecessor.

All variants of the ROG Phone 9 Series will sport a 6.78-inch 2400 x 1080 185Hz AMOLED display. Peak brightness is now rated at 2,500nits and it is one of the fastest displays put on a smartphone. There is a caveat, however, as its 185Hz refresh rate can only be enabled via Game Genie and will only be supported by select games.

The ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro come with a 5,800mAh battery – 300mAh more compared to the ROG Phone 8 Series – with support for 65W Fast Charging through their USB-C connector and Bypass Charging for those who want extended gaming sessions while plugged in.

As for cameras, both the base and pro variant will come with a 50MP f/1.8 Sony Lytia 700 OIS main, a 13MP f/2.2 ultrawide, and a 32MP f/2.5 front-facing camera. The Pro model will come with a 32MP f/2.4 telephoto while the vanilla variant has a 5MP f/2.4 macro lens.

These devices will run on Android 15 with ASUS promising 2 OS updates and security updates for 5 years.

ASUS has gone all out with this generation’s AniMe Vision. They have increased the resolution to 85 LEDs on the ROG Phone 9 and 648 LEDs on the ROG Phone 9 Pro variants. Thanks to the higher resolution LED array at the back for the Pro models, you can now display custom GIFs, animations, and even play basic games such as Snake and Invaders.

Global pricing is set starting at USD 999 for the ROG Phone 9, USD 1,199 for the ROG Phone 9 Pro, and USD 1,499 for the ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition. Directly converting these prices puts the ROG Phone 9 series with a starting price of PhP 58,000.
