Struggles With Higher Resolutions

Hungrygeeks PH ROG Zephyrus G14 2025 002a

Although the ROG Zephyrus G14 2025 comes with a 3K OLED display complete with a 120Hz refresh rate, some games might force you not to take full advantage of the display. Capable as it may seem, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Mobile GPU may require you to adjust a good number of settings to get more than 60 FPS in some games.

Ray Tracing Off Tremendously Helps

In the tests, turning off Ray Tracing significantly adds more frames. As obvious as it may sound, the difference can even be double the frames in some cases (tested in Black Myth Wukong)! So, if you want to get more frames and pump up numbers, best turn off Ray Tracing if possible.

Synthetic Benchmarks

These benchmarks are meant to measure the device’s performance relative to other peoples’ machines. We plugged in a mix of CPU & GPU-intensive tests and other ones that measure the performance of both at the same time.

3DMark Firestrike Extreme

Fire Strike Extreme

3DMark Fire Strike Extreme is designed for multi-GPU systems and future hardware generations. In addition to raising the rendering resolution, additional visual quality improvements increase the rendering load to ensure accurate performance measurements for truly extreme hardware setups.

ROG Zephyrus G14 2025 Review – User Experience

3K OLED Display

Hungrygeeks PH ROG Zephyrus G14 2025 022

We have always been fans of the ROG Nebula display screens on ROG laptops. It’s a display that you need to actually see to convince you of that it is of very high quality. It’s also mind-boggling for us that these things keep on improving year after year. In the case of the ROG Zephyrus G14 2025, the ROG Nebula display here is an OLED display that boasts a maximum 3K resolution (2880 x 1800) with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 0.2ms response time. Furthermore, the display is also DCI-P3 100% and Pantone Validated, making it a good mobile workstation for artists and editors. Or for school. Yeah, for school.

Small & Light

Hungrygeeks PH ROG Zephyrus G14 2025 009

Opposite to the power stored within its shell, the ROG Zephyrus G14 2025 weighs only a measly 1.5kg without its included charger. It’s also small and thing, making it easy to pack inside inconspicuous backpacks and laptop bags. Being both small and light makes this device easy to carry around and travel with. This also means that you can be more productive knowing that you can whip this out anytime to do work or study.

Compromises On Size

There is one fact that continues to be proven true even after decades: the smaller the gaming laptop, the lesser power that it can pack. One of the more significant reasons for this is due to the limitations of cooling solutions. The smaller the laptop, the more compact cooling has to be. This leads to less efficient heat transfers, making your laptop’s chips susceptible to thermal throttling. Thermal throttling is a chip’s built-in feature to preserve itself from getting burnt due to excessive heat and power. This results in lower performance when the chip becomes hot for extended periods of time.

The ROG Zephyrus G14 2025 can be hot but still usable for long hours. While it does become scalding hot near the display when running intense applications or games, it does only feel warm near the touchpad. Just be wary not to touch any of the panels near the screen as it really does get too hot for comfort.

Slash Lighting

Hungrygeeks PH ROG Zephyrus G14 2025 020

To make this aluminum slab more eye-catching, ASUS ROG included the Slash Lighting. Already available in its previous incarnations, the Slash Lighting, as the name already implies, adds a bit of personality to the ROG Zephyrus G14 2025. You can program the lighting’s behavior using the ASUS Armoury Crate app to your liking.

VRAM Problems

Unfortunately, not is as perfect as it seems. In this review, we had the ROG Zephyrus G14 2025 that carried the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 laptop GPU. Sounds fine, right? The VRAM allocation says otherwise. With only a measly 8GB, this gaming laptop cannot handle the demands and requirements of modern titles, even if scaled to 1080p. This is quite sad given that the ROG Nebula display can really be enough to convince you to get this device but the hardware itself limits what this amazing machine can output. If you do plan on playing games above 1080p at its highest settings, you’re out of luck if you get versions that have 8GB (God forbid, less than) of VRAM.

ROG Zephyrus G14 2025 Review – Verdict & Conclusion

Easy To Carry Gaming Beast

ROG Zephyrus G14 2025 Award

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

The ROG Zephyrus G14 2025 remains true to its goal of providing a solid gaming laptop in a compact shell. ASUS ROG really refined and improved every iteration of this gaming laptop. Although nothing major has changed compared to its 2024 version, we still did get a sleek with brimming with power and style. It’s a laptop designed to handle even the more power-hungry apps and games. Not only that but the ROG Zephyrus G14 2025 is packaged with a 3K OLED Display and a great deal of ports.

Choose A Better Graphics Chip If You Can

However, despite being loaded with the latest tech, the ROG Zephyrus G14 2025 is handicapped by the graphics chip that it carries. In the model that we reviewed, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 carried only a minuscule 8GB of VRAM. That amount of VRAM is not even enough for the screen that the model carries. This means that you are forced to run games at 1080p (1920×1200 if you want to keep the 16:10 aspect ratio) if you want to get the best graphics in mobile form. If you’re looking to at least maximize the whole package, get the GeForce RTX 5070Ti model and above for more VRAM.

Play In Style, Move In Style

ROG Zephyrus G14 2025 Hungrygeeks Philippines Cover

With all that said, the ROG Zephyrus G14 2025 is still a gaming laptop to admire and have as your own personal computing buddy. It has most, if not all, the things that you need for a compact and light gaming laptop. It’s a small slab filled with hopes and dreams that can also be your mobile battle station or workstation. In terms of looks, pulling this out of your bag and playing in a public place wouldn’t be a bad idea. You’ll definitely get some stares due to its premium look, and probably some admirers too (if you’re a great player).

Even after all these years, we can still definitely say: 2025 is another good year for the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14.
