The Samsung Galaxy A16 5G has made its official debut. Aside from generational improvements over its predecessor, Samsung is promising support for the smartphone with software updates for a whopping 6 years.

The Samsung Galaxy A16 5G will be officially supported by Samsung with software updates including the latest Android versions and security patches until October 31, 2030. This is a long support period for a smartphone, which is a step in the right direction for Samsung especially for those who don’t upgrade their smartphones every couple of years.

Of course there will be hardware updates from its predecessor. It will come with an Exynos 1330 in Europe, but is expected to be outfitted with a Dimensity 6300 instead in Southeast Asia countries. Its chip is complemented by up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage, with an option to extend the latter via microSD.

It gets a 50MP f/1.8 main camera, a 5MP f/2.2 ultrawide, a 2MP f/2.4 macro, and a 13MP f/2.0 front-facing camera for its imaging department. The display is a 6.5-inch 2340 x 1080 Super AMOLED screen that supports 90Hz refresh rate.

Samsung also outfits the device with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and its chassis is rated for IP54 dust and water resistance. It’s powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 25W Fast Charging through its USB-C port.

The Samsung Galaxy A16 5G is priced at EUR 249 over at its French website. No word yet about local pricing and availability. Direct conversion puts it around the PhP 15,500 mark, which is a bit more expensive than the Galaxy A15 5G.
