Samsung has officially launched their midrange offerings this year – the Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56. The two come with updated designs and specifications, as well as the longest support for an Android smartphone in the market.
As part of the same family, the Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56 share some hardware. They both come with a 6.7-inch FullHD+ 120Hz AMOLED displays with higher brightnesses compared to last generation. The two also come with largely the same pixel counts for their cameras: 50MP f/1.8 main, 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide, 5MP f/2.4 macro, and a 12MP f/2.2 front-facing shooter. Battery and charging are similar with the devices being powered by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 45W Fast Charging.
Their cameras are complemented by AI capabilities to improve performance and clarity. Their latest addition is Best Face that enables you to choose the best face from a group of photos to ensure that selfies or groufies have the best outcome possible. Object Eraser has been improved to achieve a cleaner and more polished final image.
The two will run on One UI 7 based on Android 15. Circle to Search has been enhanced to recognize phone numbers, email addresses, and URLs so you can take appropriate action with just a tap. Samsung is promising up to 6 generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and 6 years of security upgrades – one of the longest update roadmaps for any Android device.
The two devices do look similar, but there are subtle differences. The rings on the camera module of the Galaxy A56 are more defined while the Galaxy A36’s cameras are hidden behind glass. Their frames are also different as the former has a metal frame while the latter is made out of plastic.
Chipsets differ with the Galaxy A56 5G remaining in-house with its Exynos 1580 while the Galaxy A36 5G settling on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. Both will come with 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage variants.
The Samsung Galaxy A56 5G will come in Awesome Light Gray, Awesome Graphite, and Awesome Pink colorways with prices at PhP 23,990 and PhP 25,990 for the 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB variants, respectively.
On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy A36 5G is available in Awesome White, Awesome Lavender, and Awesome colorways and is priced at PhP 19,990 for the 8GB/128GB model and PhP 21,990 for the 8GB/256GB version.
Both will hit the Philippine retail market by March 17, 2025, and will arrive in the Samsung Online Store by March 24, 2025.
