After much anticipation, the latest flagship smartphones from Samsung have finally arrived. The Samsung Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra pulls no punches in terms of specifications having impressive cameras, displays, and functionality.
The Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra now comes with a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2.0 3440 x 1440 display that can run up to 120Hz for buttery smooth animations and gaming experience. It has a single punch-hole smack in the middle of the top portion of the screen, which houses its 10MP f/2.2 front-facing camera with DualPixel PDAF.
The Samsung Galaxy Note20, on the other hand, has a slightly smaller 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ display at only 2400 x 1080. It does support HDR10+ but it only runs at 60Hz, which is a bit disappointing given that it is a flagship-class smartphone. Like the Note20 Ultra, there is a punch-hole at the top for its 10MP f/2.2 selfie camera.
At the back is a rather large camera bump for its three-camera setup. Leading the pack is a 108MP f/1.8 main camera backed by a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide and a 12MP f/3.0 periscope telephoto lens. Like their previous flagship, the Note20 Ultra has Space Zoom which allows it to have a 50x Hybrid Zoom. 8K video recording will also be supported by the handset for those who like to capture moments in absolute detail.
In terms of main cameras, the Galaxy Note20 Ultra employs three cameras at the back: a 108MP f/1.8 main camera, a 12MP f/2.2 utlrawide, and a 12MP f/3.0 periscope telephoto lens. Aside from the impressive specifications, the Note20 Ultra can use Space Zoom which allows it to have 50x Hybrid Zoom. In addition, 8K recording will be supported for those who like to capture moments in absolute detail.
The Galaxy Note20 also has a three-camera setup: a 12MP f/1.8 main camera, a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide, and a 64MP f/2.0 telephoto. It doesn’t have the obscene zoom levels of the Ultra but it does okay on its own by having up to 30x Hybrid Zoom.
Both smartphones come with an Exynos 990 chip for international markets while the US market will be getting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ variant. Regardless of the chipset, the Ultra will have 8GB/12GB of RAM while the vanilla Note20 has 8GB of RAM. The former will have 256GB/512GB of UFS 3.1 storage while the latter only has an option for 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The handsets also come with IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
The two will be running Android 10 with OneUI 2.1. The Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra has a slightly larger 4,500mAh battery for its 120Hz screen while the Note20 has a 4,300mAh battery. Both have the same 45W Fast Charging, support for USB PD 3.0, 15W Qi Charging, and 9W Reverse Wireless Charging.
As far as productivity goes, the Note20 series will come with the iconic S Pen as well as support for Wireless DeX. Delay for the S Pen has been significantly improved in order to provide a more tactile experience.
