After skipping a generation, the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE has officially made its debut. It is being touted as a “budget’ S23 like previous smartphones in the lineup. The hardware inside is familiar though there are some upgrades including a 50MP f/1.8 main lens over the S21 FE’s 12MP f/1.8 primary camera.

Its imaging system will also include a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide and an 8MP f2/.4 telephoto with 3x optical zoom at the back, and a 10MP f/2.4 selfie camera. At the front is a 6.4-inch 2340 x 1080 Dynamic AMOLED 2X 120Hz screen – something we are already intimate with.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE

The S23 FE will be using last generation chipsets – either a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or an Exynos 2200 depending on the region. This is still an update over its predecessor but we would have liked if Samsung implemented the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 for better performance and thermals. These chips will be complemented by 8GB RAM and a choice of either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage.

Battery is nothing spectacular. Samsung is providing a 4,500mAh battery on the S23 FE that supports 25W USB-C charging and wireless charging. It will run on Android 13 with One UI 5.1 and promises 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security patches.
