As tradition, the Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ have arrived alongside the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. Like the Ultra, both smartphones do have updated internals for next generation smartphones but Samsung is focusing more on AI capabilities this year.
The Galaxy S24 and Galaxy 24+ come with Galaxy AI. This year, Samsung is centering on breaking communication barriers by using AI for automatic translation between calls and texts all within the smartphone. Chat Assist can translate messages in 13 languages while Samsung Notes and Transcript Assist produces summaries and automate transcription of calls, respectively.
As for hardware, both smartphones will come with an Exynos 2400 for Galaxy chip instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 found on the Ultra. The smaller S24 will only have 8GB of RAM while the Plus variant has 12GB, though their storage can be specced up to 512GB.
There are 3 cameras at the back, a 50MP f/1.8 main camera with OIS, a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide, and a 10MP f/2.4 telephoto, while at the front is a 12MP f/2.2 selfie camera. Both come with Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays that runs up to 120Hz but the S24 has a slightly smaller 6.2-inch FullHD+ screen compared to the S24+’s QHD+ 6.7-inch display.
Battery size also differ from the two models. The vanilla model has a 4,000mAh battery while the plus variant has a larger 4,500mAh capacity. Both, however, share 45W Fast Charging capabilities, Fast Wireless Charging 2.0, and Wireless PowerShare.
Unlike the Ultra’s titanium frame, the Galaxy S24 and S24+ are designed with recycled steel and TPU materials for lesser impact on the environment. Samsung is promising seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates to keep all of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series for longer.
