It’s finally here. After months of leaks, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ has now become official. Launched at MWC 2018, Samsung’s latest showpiece comes with all the improvements that you’d expect from a generational leap.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ comes with 18.5:9 displays; the former having a 5.8-inch display while the latter getting a 6.2-inch screen. Despite the size difference, both displays will have a resolution of WQHD+ and curved Super AMOLED panels for richer colors. The viewing experience is backed up by its audio, which are stereo speakers tuned by AKG, and surround sound supported by Dolby Atmos.
Powering the S9 and S9+ is Samsung’s newest Exynos 9810 octa-core SoC. The S9 has a 4GB/64GB setup while the S9+ can be had with 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. Like its predecessors, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ are IP68 rated for water and dust resistance.
The Camera Reimagined
Samsung has been teasing the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+’s cameras with the tagline: The Camera Reimagined. And in some way, they have done it. The Samsung Galaxy S9 comes with a single 12MP sensor while the S9+ is the first smartphone in Samsung’s arsenal to have a dual 12MP camera setup. Samsung has added the ability for both smartphones to choose from aperture values of f1/.5 and f/2.4 for its dual camera setup.
The S9 and S9+’s camera can now take super slow motion video rated at 960fps. It also offers automatic Motion Detection that allows the smartphone to detect movement in the frame and automatically begin recording.
Samsung has also joined in on the emoji craze with AR Emoji that allows the smartphone to create 3D emojis that follows more than 100 facial features.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ is available for PhP 45,990 and PhP 52,990, respectively.
