San Miguel Corp. is still serious in moving forward to become the third major telecommunications provider in the country.
Ramon Ang, SMC President, said that San Miguel could just pursue their plans on its own and forget about partnering with foreign groups after the SMC Telstra partnership were shelved. But the Australian telecom Telstra was not the only organization interested in partnering with Ramon Ang’s group.
Norway-based company, Telenor has expressed interest to pair with SMC in developing a third telecommunication company in the Philippines. In fact Telenor was one of foreign groups that has expressed interest event before SMC and Telstra entered discussions.
SMC holds other telecom interests in Liberty Telecom Holdings Inc., Vega Telecoms Inc., Bell Telecommunications, Eastern Telecommunications, and Express Telecommunications.
