Seagate has always been at the forefront of storage devices from hard drives and flash-based storage solutions. This time around, they are releasing a ton of SSDs aiming to cater to the needs of everyone.
Seagate 510 series NVMe SSDs
For those who need faster speeds, Seagate is offering two new NVMe SSDs: the Seagate BarraCuda 510 and the FireCuda 510 NVMe SSDs. Both drives use the PCIe 3.0 x4 bus to deliver faster read and write speeds.
Let’s start off with the Seagate BarraCuda 510. The drive uses the traditional green color scheme found on most BarraCuda drives from the brand. The NVMe drive is available in 256GB and 512GB capacities and is rated to reach up to 3400MB/s in Sequential Reads and 2100MB/s in Sequential Writes
The BarraCuda 510 NVMe SSD can also reach up to 340K and 500K IOPS in Random Read and Write performance, respectively. The brand rates the drive’s endurance up to 320TBW.
The Seagate FireCuda 510 NVMe SSD is a bit faster than the BarraCuda NVMe SSD. Available in 1TB and 2TB capacities, the brand says it can reach up to 3450MB/s and 3200MB/s Sequential Read and Write Speeds, respectively.
Random Read and Writes of the FireCuda 510 is expected to reach 485K and 600K IOPS, respectively, under optical conditions. The brand anticipates the drive’s endurance to be at 1300TBW.
Seagate BarraCuda SSD
The Seagate BarraCuda SSD comes in a 2.5-inch form factor using the SATA III bus can reach Sequential Write speeds of 540MB/s and Sequential Reads of 560MB/s and Random Read and Write speeds of 90K IOPS.
It will be available in four capacities: 250GB, 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB. Seagate says that the drive has an endurance rating of 1067TBW and will come with a 5-year warranty.
Seagate IronWolf SSD for NAS
If you’re rocking a Network Attached Storage (NAS) in your home and in your office, then the Seagate IronWolF 110 SSD can potentially improve performance of your network. Using the SATA III bus, the drive is able to reach Sequential Read and Writes speeds of up to 560MB/s and 535MB/s, respectively.
The IronWolf 110 comes with a 2-year Rescue Data Recovery by Seagate ensuring your data can be recovered easily if you ever encounter data loss. Seagate says that the drive has an endurance rating of 1750TB. The drive will be available in 240GB, 480GB, 960GB, 1.92TB, and 3.84TB capacities.
All SSDs from Seagate be it from the BarraCuda, FireCuda, or IronWolf lineup will come with a 5-year warranty. No word yet as to their pricing and availability but we expect to hear from Seagate or one of their partners soon.
