As you all know, the much-awaited and one of the most popular smartphone game of this year has been released here in the Philippines — Pokemon Go. And with its roar sounding all over the Philippine social media, everyone joined the ride. SM made history last weekend when it launched the biggest Pokemon Go lure party. It all happened to every SM malls all over the Philippines around 5PM to 9PM of August 12.
As aspiring Pokemon trainers that we are, it would be a shame to miss this kind of event so we went ahead and visited the SM Aura branch to join the party. True to event’s title, it was really a party as a huge number of Pokemon Go trainers, gaming enthusiast, families and groups of friends were there to hunt Pokemons.
The SM Supermalls’ senior vice president of marketing stated:
“As early as July, our Pokémon Go digital campaign had witnessed how fascinated and ecstatic our shoppers were for the app’s official Philippine release. And from the fans’ overflowing reactions, we knew we had to give them something big and unforgettable once the game is launched,” and “We wanted to merge the beauty of digital and the real world by making our malls transformed into Pokémon Gyms and lure party venues. For everyone’s delight, over 150 Pokéstops were lured simultaneously in all our 50 malls.”
The big event roared all through out every social media platforms with the hashtag #GottaCatchEmAllAtSM and it won the hearts of many. SM Malls showcased multiple highlights such as cosplayers roamed around the mall, branches featured Pokemon collectibles and several establishments launched their own Pokemon promos. The event was so successful that even SM announced an extension of the lure party last August 13-14.
