Smart has announced that their 5G network is now ready for consumer use after laying down their 5G infrastructure. Select areas in the metro will now be able to take advantage of the faster speeds that 5G can offer starting tomorrow, July 30, 2020.

According to Smart, this will be its initial phase of commercial deployment for their customers. Smart Signature, Infinity, and other Smart Postpaid subscribers will now experience the next generation of mobile data speeds so long as they have certified smartphones and 5G-activated SIMs.

At this time, only a few areas in the metro will be covered by Smart 5G:

  • Makati Central Business District
  • Bonifacio Global City CBD
  • Araneta City
  • SM Megamall
  • Mall of Asia Bay Area
  • North Avenue in Quezon City
  • Taft Avenue in Manila
  • Ortigas CBD
  • Clark Green City in Pampanga

“The launch of Smart’s 5G service enables the Philippines to level up and join the ranks of countries utilizing the next generation of mobile technology. For our customers, it opens the door to an even higher level of customer experience in terms of enjoying video, playing esports and using more powerful digital services,” said Alfredo S. Panlilio, PLDT Chief Revenue Officer, Smart President, and CEO.

If you are interested in getting the 5G experience from Smart as well as their 5G-certified handsets can visit their official online store to see what plans and devices are available for you.
