Smart has now finished their rollout of VoLTE nationwide, which will allow both its postpaid and prepaid users to enjoy the service. VoLTE will let its users experience high-definition quality phone calls by using LTE networks instead of legacy voice networks.

Aside from the increased definition in voice calls, VoLTE will now allow users to make or receive calls while using mobile data applications simultaneously. This is an improvement over the traditional setup, where devices need to shift from an LTE network to 2G or 3G networks during a voice call.

In order to enjoy VoLTE, both callers need to have a VoLTE-capable device with a Smart LTE SIM. Enabling VoLTE is as easy as going to the settings menu of your devices and activating it. No need for any separate applications.

Smart is also rolling out Voice-over-WiFi (VoWiFi) or WiFi calling service to subscribers. This allows users to make and receive calls and text messages over any WiFi connection using a smartphone’s native dialer without an additional apps.

Calls using VoWiFi or VoLTE will be charged like normal calls against the customer’s active subscription. Customers without an active subscription, local and international voice and text rates will apply.
