What’s the breakdown?
Smart offers the iPhone 8 starting at Plan 999 and up to Plan 999, these offers starts with 5GB Data and up to 18GB of data allocation. So far, the ideal add-on is either Plan 1999 or 2499 with around 500-1200 monthly add-on on top of the plan.
What’s included in the plan?
Smart is promoting Plan 1999 which offers 12GB monthly data allocation, this comes with 70mins all-net calls, unli-all-net text and even one app allocation for data. As a start, smart also offers 1-month free gadget shield for accidents, theft, etc which you can continue on for a small amount.
If you break them down
While Smart promotes their Plan 1999, we think Plan 1499 is also good with 9GB monthly data allocation. More or less, this is enough for your monthly data needs, given that you connect via Wi-Fi at work or from other sources.
If you go with plan 1499, you save around Php4800 – Php7200 if you compare to Plan 1999. But of course, check out your data allocation is the 3GB data allocation and additional 10mins all-net calls are really needed. You can simply subscribe to additional data if needed anyways.
On the bright side of things, the monthly charge for the device can be included in the postpaid plan for Smart Plans 1499-2999. Meaning, if you get approved for Plan 1499 and above, you don’t need to cash out or use a credit card for the device monthly amortization. This applies to new and renewing postpaid subscribers.
If you can see the plan total cost of ownership, the iPhone 8 64GB at Plan 1499 will cost you Php59,976 or Php64,776 at Plan 1999. That’s a difference of Php4,800 which can be an advance payment for the phone if you have the spare cash.
While the iPhone 8 Plus 64GB at Plan 1499 will cost you Php64,776 or Php71,976 at Plan 999. That gives you a difference of Php7,200 which again, significant enough for additional money to pay for the cash out which can translate for a lower monthly.
All in all, Smart might promote that the iPhone 8 is best at Php2,699 monthly…we think their Php2,499 monthly is a hidden gem to consider.
