Smart launches first prepaid eSIM in PH

Smart unveils the Philippines’ first prepaid eSIM to bring in a new era of convenience and flexibility for their mobile users. eSIM allows for a quick and hassle-free way for you to enjoy services without having to insert a physical SIM card into their devices.

Smart Prepaid eSIM

eSIM is no longer just for postpaid customers. You now only have to scan the Smart Prepaid eSIM, which comes in a the form of a QR code containing a Smart prepaid number. The eSIM will initially come in the form of a printed card but will also be available soon in digital form such as via email or voucher.

Since there is no physical card, you no longer need to worry about losing your SIM and use Smart’s network without taking up a SIM slot on your handset. If you’re an Apple user, you can also enjoy the convenience of being able to switch between two or more accounts or SIM profiles on one device.

eSIM is also well-suited for travelers, tourists, or overseas workers as they no longer need to swap SIM cards if when they arrive in the country.

How to Register your Smart eSIM

Smart’s Prepaid eSIM also comes with up to 21GB free data, which you can claim by activating and registering your SIM, and downloading the Smart GigaLife App to manage your prepaid account. Successfully activating and registering your eSIM will net you 5GB free data and downloading the GigaLife app nets you an additional 16GB of free data.

Activating your eSIM is easy for Android and Apple users as they only have to open their camera app and scan the QR code containing the Smart Prepaid account.

Alternatively, Apple users may go to their phone’s “Settings,” choose “Cellular,” and select “Add Mobile Plan.” Upon activation, the eSIM will be listed under “Cellular Plans.”

For Android users, go to “Settings,” choose “SIM Card Manager,” select “Add Mobile Plan,” and tap “Add using QR Code.” Once activated, the eSIM can be viewed under “SIM Card Manager.”

All subscribers are required to register their Smart Prepaid eSIM. You’ll need to input your mobile number and OTP, fill out your personal information, upload a valid ID, and wait for the confirmation text.

The Smart Prepaid eSIM is now available for PhP 99.00 in major airports, Smart stores nationwide, accredited retailers, the Smart Online Store, and Smart flagship stores on Lazada and Shopee.
