Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia (SIEJA) held the “PlayStation® Awards 2016” ceremony on December 13 to award PlayStation® software titles that have had a great performance in Japan and other Asian regions.
Since 1994, the year when PlayStation® was launched, “PlayStation® Awards” has been held every year and more than 320 titles have been awarded.
To honor game creators for their efforts, titles that have accumulatively shipped and downloaded more than 500,000 copies were awarded the “Gold Prize”※2, and 3 titles that had the best sales through PlayStation™Network awarded “PlayStation™Network Award” ※3 and “Users’ Choice Awards”※4 were awarded to the 10 titles that got the highest numbers of votes from users.
This year, “PlayStation®VR Special Award” ※5 and “Indie Special Award” ※6 were added in addition to the above awards. “PlayStation®VR Special Award” was awarded to the 5 titles that contributed a lot to the launch of PlayStation®VR in both Asia and Japan regions. “Indie Special Award” was awarded to the 5 indie titles which contributed to PlayStation® title lineups.
Together with the “PlayStation® Awards 2016”, starting from 14th December, 2016 (Wednesday), PlayStation®Awards 2016 winning titles campaigns will be held on PlayStation®Store (PS Store). In Hong Kong and Southeast Asia region, a special page will be set up on PS Store to introduce the winning titles. What’s more, customers who download the winning titles between 13th December and 19th December will receive PlayStation™Network Prepaid Value as rebate.※7
