Last 2014 in Japan, Sony held a pretty cool contest – people who bought a PS3, PS4, Vita, or Vita TV between December 4 and January 15 could get a calendar that includes a special code that will give them a chance to obtain one of those limited-edition 20th anniversary PS4s, the ones that have been driving Sony fans into a rampage for the past few months.
Today, Sony, the company behind PlayStation announced that they have accidentally wiped all the information they collected from contestants, and that it will be impossible to recover those data. Uh-oh.
According to translations on the website, Sony stated “Our deepest apologies for the trouble we have caused to those who entered the previous campaign.”
Though Sony did not explain why they mysteriously lost this database of contestant winners, they are giving Japanese PlayStation buyers the opportunity to re-enter by re-sending all of their information (this includes hardware serial number and home addresses) via forms on their website. Let’s give Sony a chance to redeem their mistakes.
