Sony is bringing in two new lenses in the Philippines under the G Lens and G Master range: the FE 20 – 70mm F4 G (also known as the SEL207G) and the G Master 300mm F2.8 Telephoto.
The Sony FE 20 – 70mm F4 G is designed for full-frame cameras and boasts a 20 – 70mm zoom range in a 488g package with a constant F4 aperture throughout. As part of the company’s G Lens series, they promise impressive image quality, high-speed accuracy and tracking AG, and a smart design for maximum mobility and operability.
Its 20mm wide makes it possible to maintain wide angle of view when shooting video with a 16:9 or 2.35:1 aspect ratio. As part of the G Lens range, it has a state-of-the-art optical design that corrects both chromatic and spherical aberration across the whole zoom range. Bokeh is enhanced with full-frame sensors and its 9-blade circular aperture and optimally tuned spherical aberration.
The lens has an independent focus, zoom, and aperture rings that feature optimized diameter, width, and positioning for full control when shooting stills as well as maximum versatility when recording video.
According to photographer and Sony Philippines Product Expert Nicco Valenzuela, the FE 20 – 70m F4 G is comparably lighter and more compact than most standard zoom lenses with a constant aperture. It also allows photographers to carry a singular lens without bringing a separate ultrawide angle lens.
Sony is also bringing in a new entry for their G Master series – the Sony G master 300mm F2.8 Telephoto. It is set to launch in early 2024, however, so take this as an early teaser the camera enthusiasts.
As a long-range zoom, the 300mm glass will feature high-resolution and beautiful bokeh as expected from the G Master lineup. More information will be unveiled by Sony once the lens launches locally.
The Sony FE 20 – 70mm F4 G (SEL2070G) is priced at PhP 75,000 in the Philippines. It will be available in select Sony Authorized Dealers nationwide starting February 17, 2023.
As for the Sony G Master 300mm F2.8 Telephoto, it will launch sometime in 2024. It is still quite a while until we get our first look at it so stay tuned for more news.
