Unlocking the Power Sword varies depending on your game mode. In the story campaign, you need to first reach Operation III: Machinus Divinitus to equip it. For Operations, it is available by default if you select the Bulwark class. In PvP multiplayer, reaching Veterancy Level 9 of the Bulwark class unlocks the Power Sword.
The Power Sword is a weapon only usable by the Bulwark class. It is not available for other classes. This also means that the Bulwark is the only class that benefits from leveling up the Power Sword in Operations and Eternal War game modes.
The Power Sword, as its description states, is a versatile melee weapon that has two forms: Speed style and Power style. Both styles, while not fully distinct due to their similar move sets, allow greater flexibility when the need requires it.
Speed style is what you use when dealing with solo opponents. As the name implies, it is fast, allowing you to dish out large amounts of damage in a small amount of time making it perfect when dealing with tougher xenos or traitors. When in Speed style, your Power Sword has a dull glow.
Power style is for swarms. Speed gives you more range with your sweep attacks, adding an aftershock wave after each slash, giving you more coverage. If you find yourself getting overwhelmed by minor enemies, use this style. When in Power style, your Power Sword glows brighter and displays more effects.
In co-op, you can upgrade the Power Sword to improve its stats. Take note that upgrading weapons require you to spend Mastery Points and unlock tiers via Armoury Data.
