Some of the WiFi 6 (802.11ax) compatible routers out in the market are a bit aggressive to the eyes because of their design. In Computex 2019, the brand is releasing a WiFi 6-compatible AiMesh router system that’s sure to fit any room in your home: the ASUS AiMesh AX6600.
Better and farther coverage in your home
The ASUS AiMesh AX6600 fits a more minimalist design akin to the Blue Cave rather than aggressive angles and spider-like design on the RT-AC88U. To improve coverage, the AX6600U kit comes with two AX95Q routers that are AiMesh compatible.
ASUS has removed the external antennas and instead placed them near the top of the device. Each router packs six antennas that have been aligned diagonally from each other to improve coverage without relying on large external antennas.
As the name suggests, the AX6600 is AiMesh compatible with other ASUS routers found in the market. For the uninitiated, AiMesh allows individual ASUS routers to work together in order to deliver seamless Internet-connectivity throughout an area.
The latest WiFi standards
The AX6600 pack supports the latest WiFi-6 (802.11ax) standards. This allows the routers to reach a maximum speed of 6,600Mbps over WiFi. To handle even more devices, the device comes with two Broadcomm chips: BCM6755 for 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz and BCM43684 dedicated for 5.0GHz 2.
Aside from faster WiFi speeds, ASUS is throwing in three Gigabit ports and a single 2.5G WAN port for a faster wired speeds. The brand has also included a single USB port for Network Attached Devices.
ASUS hasn’t announced as to when the AiMesh AX6600 will arrive in the market. We expect it to make its formal debut to customers around the third quarter of this year.
