Last week, Apple told us that most built-in iOS apps could now be removed from the home screen upon installing iOS 10, and we all celebrated because Apple finally heard us. But after that, Apple revealed one very depressing feat: you’re only removing the app’s icon and not the app itself — it’s still installed on the phone.
Apple software chief Craig Federighi clarified that iOS 10 doesn’t fully uninstall built-in apps. It removes the home screen icon, user data, and some background processes that adds links to each app but sadly, the app itself remains on the phone. That means if you want to use the removed app, it won’t download anything — it just reappears on the home screen like nothing happened.
Nope. Apple stated that all of its built-in apps has only a 150MB of size, combined. That may actually make you think if your phone is already full especially if you have that 16GB size. I know, it’s frustrating that you can’t really remove that extra MB, but let’s face it — you just want to remove that Stocks app like we all do.
The latest iOS 10 is now available for beta testing and it will officially be available for everyone this September (or earlier).
