The ASUS ROG Strix XG17 allows you to play at 240Hz while on-the-go

-

ASUS ROG is trying something new with portable displays. Instead of creating a secondary screen like the ZenScreen Touch MB16AMT, the ASUS ROG Strix XG17 portable monitor is enough to replace your primary screen with its 240Hz refresh rate.

Faster refresh rate outside your house

Designed to bring a faster gaming experience even while mobile, the ASUS ROG Strix XG17 is the first portable monitor to have a 240Hz refresh rate. Its size isn’t too bad either measuring at 17.3-inches, which equals a rather large laptop.

Its screen is of an IPS design that allows for better viewing angles compared to TN panels. With a 3ms response time complementing its fast refresh rate, it’s sure to bring an edge to the competition.

As an added bonus, the portable monitor also includes adaptive sync that operates between 48Hz – 240Hz for a tear-free experience. The brand has also said that they are currently waiting for certification from NVIDIA for G-SYNC compatibility.

Not only for PCs and laptops

While 240Hz can only be realistically achieved by PCs and notebooks at this time, the ASUS ROG Strix XG17 still caters to both mobile and console crowd. Packing a MicroHDMI and Type-C connectivity, the display can act as an external monitor for Android and consoles like the Nintendo Switch.

The display weighs around 800 grams and comes with a built-in battery. ASUS suggests that the screen will last up to three hours running at 240Hz. It is also possible to increase the screen time by lowering the refresh rate of the XG17.

Fast charging is supported via its Type-C port. It tops up the device for up to 2.7 hours of playtime in just an hour of charging.
