The Galaxy Z Fold5 has been announced alongside the Galaxy Z Flip5 at the Galaxy Unpacked 2023. Samsung hasn’t done anything radical this time around but instead refining the formula to make their thinnest foldable yet.
The Galaxy Z Flip5 measures only 13.4mm when folded and 6.1mm when unfolded. The hinge has been improved so the main display folds into itself flat rather than having a wedge. This results in a cleaner fold than before and thus minimizing its thickness.
On the software side, the company promises improve optimization of 3rd party apps and a more tuned S Pen Fold Edition experience with better writing experience. Its Taskbar now enables seamless productivity by allowing you to switch up to four of your frequently used apps. Two-Handed Drag and Drop also receives some enhancements allowing to hold an image in the Samsung Gallery and using another finger to open Samsung Notes to drag-and-drop the image.
Its 7.6-inch main screen boosts its peak brightness by 30% reaching up to 1750 nits. The device is being powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 by Galaxy platform with 12GB RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage.
There are three cameras at the back: a 50MP f/1.8 Dual Pixel AF main, a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide, and 10MP f/2.4 telephoto with up to 3x optical zoom. Samsung packs two selfies cameras: a 10MP f/2.2 Dual Pixel AF on the cover display and a 4MP f/1.8 Dual Pixel AF on the main screen.
