MediaTek has announced another chipset to bolster its ranks. This time around, the company is introducing their latest mid-range gaming chipset, the Helio G85. It shares the same arrangement as the Helio G80 although the GPU has received an increase in clock speeds in order to deliver better gaming performance.
Like the Helio G80, the Helio G85 sports two ARM Cortex-A75 CPUs running at 2.0GHz and six ARM Cortex-A55 CPUs clocked at 1.8GHz. Its GPU is an ARM Mali-G52 MC2 but instead of running at 950MHz like the G80, the G85 runs its GPU at a higher 1.0GHz clock speed.
Aside from the higher clocked GPU, MediaTek is adding on quite a bit of tech with the Helio G85.
The MediaTek Helio G85 is set to make its first appearance in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9. More devices powered by MediaTek’s latest mid-range gaming chipset are expected to make their debut in the next few months.
