Huawei is officially jumping on the pop-up camera smartphone bandwagon with the Huawei P Smart Z. Positioned as a mid-range smartphone, the P Smart Z comes with decent specifications for its asking price.
The Huawei P Smart Z is equipped with a 6.59-inch 2340 x 1080 display with no notches. Since there’s no notch, the company has implemented a pop-up mechanism for its 16MP front-facing camera. Huawei says that the pop-up camera can withstand 100,000 cycles and take 12kg of force.
The rear of the smartphone has a dual-texture finish. The device comes with a 16MP main camera with a 2MP depth sensor. Near the dual camera setup is a fingerprint scanner since there’s no in-display fingerprint sensor.
The device is powered by a Kirin 710F chip with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The Huawei Smart Z runs on Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI 9.0. As for the battery, the smartphone will come with a 4,000mAh battery that can be charged via its USB Type-C port.
The Huawei P Smart Z has an asking price of EUR 280 or around PhP 16,000 (near the price of the Huawei P30 Lite). At this time, the smartphone is sure to launch in Europe. Other regions would need to wait for confirmation if and when the smartphone would launch in their respective territories.
