Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 17 series just like clockwork. Among them is the iPhone 17 Air, which is dubbed to be the thinnest iPhone yet. Its slim design, however, it sacrifices battery capacity.
The iPhone 17 Air measures in at 5.6mm thick, which is 2mm thinner than the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. While they haven’t published numbers about its battery capacity, it is said that it may have a 2,900mAh battery which is 1,000mAh less than Samsung’s competitor. There is an option for a low-profile MagSafe battery, but it will add thickness to the device.
It’s getting a fairly large 6.5-inch LTPO Super Retina OLED display with ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate with Ceramic Shield 2 protection. Cameras include a single 48MP shooter at the back and an 18MP front-facing lens.
Performance comes from the new Apple A19 Pro chip, which comes with a 6-core CPU and a 5-core GPU. They are putting big claims on this chip as they promise MacBook-tier of performance, which is a big ask for any smartphone.
Complementing the A19 Pro is the Apple N1 chip that lets it support WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. Apple is replacing last year’s Snapdragon X71 model with their own C1X modem, which they claim uses 30% less energy.
The Apple iPhone 17 is priced at PhP 72,990 in the Philippines for the base 256GB version. They are also offering it in 512GB and 1TB variants for PhP 72,990 and PhP 102,990, respectively. Colorways include Sky Blue, Light Gold, Cloud White, and Space Black.
You can now pre-order the device through Apple’s official website and authorized retailers. It will hit the Philippine market on September 19, 2025.
