Things you should know before watching Civil War

-

The hype is real! Captain America: Civil War is the 13th film of the ever-famous Marvel Cinematic Universe, and just like the Avengers, it’s all about multiple superheroes and not just Captain America. That said, you should know a few things before watching the movie because it may get pretty complicated.

People are mad at The Avengers

Pre-Civil-War-1

As far as The Avengers saving the day (and a city) is concerned, people are also furious at our saviors because they pretty much destroyed everything while saving the citizens. Heck, they even obliterated a city by letting it fly high and smash it to the ground (Avengers: Age of Ultron).

It all started way back in 2008 when The Incredible Hulk defeated The Abomination in the middle of Harlem, New York. Then they destroyed New York again (maybe it’s their favorite city to destroy) when a group of aliens known as the Chitauri attacked the city. Then come London (Thor: The Dark World) where Thor and Malekith’s army fought each other to prevent the alignment of the other worlds.

And may I also remind you that time when Captain America dropped three (yes, three) large Hellicariers at the center of Washington. We wouldn’t be surprised if the citizens are mad at them.

Captain America doesn’t like the government

Pre-Civil-War-2

Isn’t it ironic? Captain America doesn’t like — well, America itself. After Hydra, the terrorist organization that’s been bugging Cap for the last few decades, have infiltrated S.H.E.I.L.D and a few more government agencies, Steve Rogers promised that he wouldn’t trust the government again. Imagine fighting for someone who turns out to be the enemy this whole time? Bummer.

Iron Man is guilty of destroying cities

This is where the tension is growing. Iron Man once declared that he will not allow the government to control his technology. But after seeing how the world nearly met its maker through his own hands by making Ultron, Tony Stark realized that maybe his own judgment is not the best for protecting the Earth. Exactly the opposite of Captain America.

Captain America and The Winter Solider are solid BFFs

Pre-Civil-War-3

Before Bucky Barnes was brainwashed and transformed into The Winter Soldier, he was Steve’s best friend in the army. Towards the end of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Barnes saves Rogers after falling from a crashing Hellicarrier.

The government is now on the hunt for Bucky to serve him justice for all the assassination that he has committed. This also fuels the war between Cap and Iron Man because Cap wants to save Bucky while Iron Man wants to take him down. Hence, the “But he’s my friend. So was I” feud.

That’s pretty much it. You really don’t need to watch every MCU movies before watching Captain America: Civil War. Stay tuned for our review of the movie after we’re done watching.
