Mobile smartphone giants Vivo, OPPO, and Xiaomi have announced that they have teamed up with each other to bring a new wireless file transfer system to consumers around the world. The newly formed “Peer-to-Peer Transmission Alliance” will allow seamless cross-brand file transfer with just one click.
Faster file transfer speeds for the three brands
The three brands established the Peer-to-Peer Trasmission Alliance to provide their users with faster file transfers. The new wireless transfer system will allow consumers of these three brands to easily and seamlessly transfer files between their mobile devices without third-party applications or network data.
Their wireless transfer system will support a wide range of files including photos, videos, music, documents, and more. This move by the three companies was made in anticipation of 5G anticipation, where average file sizes are expected to significantly increase.
How will it work?
The wireless file transfer system does not require Internet connection. It will be using Bluetooth for fast pairing and WiFi P2P technology for data transfer. This will allow an instant, stable, and high-speed connection between devices while keeping the power draw low.
This technology delivers an average transfer speed 20MB/s. WiFi P2P will not be interrupting normal WiFi connections allowing users to browse the Internet while transferring files between smartphones.
When will it arrive?
Vivo, OPPO, and Xiaomi will continue to openly collaborate to deliver new technological breakthroughs. The Alliance is also looking forward more brands to participate and expand the ecosystem in the future.
This feature will be gradually rolled out to Vivo smartphones in different markets starting February 2020.
