vivo is officially sacking the FunTouch OS ecosystem, and will be making their previously China-exclusive OriginOS available to a global market. The rollout of OriginOS 6 for supported devices will start early this November.
At the heart of OriginOS 6 is the new Origin Smooth Engine, which enables seamless collaborations between all the system-critical hardware to make the experience feel smooth. Its 8+1 Ultra-Core Computing keeps critical tasks running first and improves cold-start speed by 18.5% and frame-rate stability by 10.5%. Memory Fusion accelerates data loading by up to 106%, while Dual Rendering boosts animation performance by 35% and keeps framerates 11% steadier under heavy load.
Its Origin Animation system enhances the visual experience with motion effect like Spring Animation, Blur Transition, Morphing Animation, and One-Shot Animation.
The Snap-Up Engine prioritizes computing power for high-demand actions like ticketing to keep users one step ahead. Paired with faster app launches, it is up to 16% quicker when opening 50% consecutive apps and 41% faster touch response.
The Origin Design system was inspired by nature and unifies visual elements including color, shape icon, image, font, layout, material, and depth. The new brand font, vivo Sans, supports more than 40 languages with fully variable and adjustable weight for its symbols. Dynamic Glow and Translucent Color add depth and immersive vibrancy to interactions.
vivo has reimagined app design. From checking device status in iManager to tracking health information in Origin Health, users can focus on ongoing tasks. Their new Immersive Weather enables exploration of weather in digital form.
OriginOS 6 also supports personal expression. The new Lock Screen Grid enables arranging and resizing of widgets freely, customization of fonts, and to combine photos for instant updates. A reimagined Home Screen Grid comes with a 4×7 layout and adaptive folders, while Flip Cards brings photos to life with a living display that shifts naturally with the device.
vivo AI, in close collaboration with Google, brings the upgraded Gemini and Circle to Search to OriginOS 6 for a smarter and more intuitive experience.
The new Origin Island surfaces real-time status at the top of screen and remains visible when you leave apps with integration of Android 16’s Live Updates. It also offers contextual suggestions like Copy & Go and Drag & Go.
Additional AI features include AI Retouch which integrates AI Erase, AI Image Expander, and AI Photo Enhance; Smart Call Asisstant, DocMaster, AI Creation, and AI Search.
The OriginOS 6 will roll out starting early November with other devices receiving the update as late as the first half of 2026. Moving forward, OriginOS will be the default OS found on vivo devices.
