How To Unlock Upgrades In Chaos Gate
Complete The “Nexus” Story Mission
In order to unlock the option to upgrade your weapons and armor, you must first finish the story mission “Nexus”. After 12 days, you will be prompted with a message that you can now upgrade your equipment using purity seals a.k.a. upgrades.

Chaos Gate – How To Upgrade Weapons & Armor
Go To The Barracks
To upgrade weapons, access the Barracks while in the Baleful Edict. From there, pick a Grey Knight and go to Loadout. Choose a weapon or armor that you want to upgrade and equip it first. Once equipped, you can now upgrade the equipped item provided that you have the seeds for the upgrade.
Can Also Upgrade Before Missions
If you find it a hassle to go around and upgrade weapons and armor, you can also do so before heading into missions with your team. Just follow the above steps and equip the items that you want to upgrade before sending out your Grey Knights.
Upgrades Are Permanent
Be wary when upgrading as the seeds that you spend on an upgrade cannot be regained. Make sure to choose the weapon or armor that you want to upgrade, then select which stat.
Affected By Events & Technologies
Events involving Ectar can either increase or decrease the seeds required to upgrade your weapons and armor. Researching certain technologies can also reduce their required number.
How To Get Seeds In Chaos Gate
There are 3 ways that you can reliably farm seeds to upgrade your weapons and armor:
- Extract them from enemy hosts using a Servo Skull
- Land a critical hit and damage the enemy part with Seeds
- Purify Bloomspawns in the battlefield to extract seed
Seeds can also be used to unlock technologies and stratagems. They are sometimes required to advance the story.
