When Ubisoft announced that annual release of Assassin’s Creed would end with AC: Syndicate, everybody was wondering what would be the replacement for it this 2016. The company has many stellar titles to choose from and the top picks to take the spot were Ghost Recon and Watch_Dogs. Seems like the winner is pretty obvious during E3 2016. Anyhow, Watch_Dogs 2 is happening and will be out for the Xbox One, Sony PS4, and PC (sorry WiiU). The release date is stamped at November 15, 2016.
Watch_Dogs has had a notorious launch last 2014, most of the criticisms stem from the obvious differences between the teased gameplay and the actual one. The first one was actually good, but it promised too much and was overhyped, leaving a lot of followers to give drown in their sorrows with a less shiny car. However, given Ubisoft’s trend of “making things right the second time around”, Watch_Dogs 2 looks like one promising title. Without getting into the trailer, their track record for second releases and learning from their mistake show (see AC2, AC4, R6: NV 2, Far Cry 3).
The above Watch_Dogs 2 trailer shows how the gameplay has changed from the slow, moody, and angsty protagonist; to a faster and more rabid type of play. We can see some takedowns, more intimate and creative ways to interact with technology, and of course, parkour. All of which were absent from the first game.
Watch_Dogs 2 will be set in a digital replica of San Francisco, a far cry (teehee) from Chicago’s urban landscape.
We’ll just have to wait and see if it comes around with redemption this coming November 15, 2016.
