Buying Tips

  1. Get it from your LGS – your Local Game Store can offer discounts that are lower than the prices on GW’s official webstore. If you can buy from these stores, best do as not only you do you get a discount but you also support them as well.
  2. Look for second-hand models – in some cases, you may have some of the models inside these boxes. If you don’t fancy having more of them, your best bet would be to look out for those selling them. Although you do get them from a lower price, you also have to consider the logistics on getting the models, how to repaint them, and you have to watch out for fakes too.
  3. Paint old models – if you’re like me that collects a lot of Warhammer 40,000, chances are you also have loads of boxes on your shelves. In my case, I have years of backlogs that I would like to paint too (looking at you Indomitus box). If you can still be patient, best paint those old models first. Maybe, just maybe, a more discounted box (like Battleforces), may come out for you to just grab and store on your shelf again for it to gather dust.

What Are Combat Patrols?

Discount Boxes

Space Marine Combat Patrol Price

Combat Patrols are what we can call “discount” boxes in the hobby. They contain a good amount of models that would cost more if you buy each one of them separately. Combat Patrols are also a good way to enter the hobby as it gives you the minimum amount of units to play the smallest game in Warhammer 40,000. For painters and collectors, these boxes are also godsend given that they contain a good variety of things to paint and collect.
