Why Samsung TVs only offer 1 Year Warranty?

I’ll be honest, during the SamsungxAbenson event for the 2023 Samsung Smart TV launch, the thought of asking Samsung the question in this article title popped in my mind.

Why Samsung TV only offers 1 Year Warranty vs other Brands?

Coming from a Samsung Q60R, I had my fair share of a problem in my display and that was a little shy after the 1 year warranty. So it came to my mind if it’s still worth buying the 2023 Samsung Smart TV lineup as an upgrade.

I got the answer directly from Samsung Philippines’ AV Product Marketing Head – Mr.Mahir Al-Rubah and to be honest I was at sound with this answer to this question. To break things down, we had a bit of rebuttal and exchange of thoughts as well to this question to give more context.

So here is in a summarized content the answer to my questions about this topic

Why Samsung TV only offers 1 Year Warranty?

As per Mahir this is to give a consistent experience across all countries where Samsung is offered as they adhere to international standards implied by Samsung Global for optimal sales and aftersales service in every country.

Other brands uses the sales pitch “We’re 2 years warranty versus Samsung”

Mahir explained that warranty coverage isn’t only the factor here but also footprint and expertise. Being in the smartphone world myself handling the marketing of OPPO and realme, I have to agree that not all service centers are the same and it’s important that coverage per service center is nationwide to ensure not only compliance with DTI but also as a benchmark as a big brand in the country.

Samsung Philippines has one of the biggest and most extensive after-sales service standards both in smartphones and appliances. Not only in locations but also extensive services like on-site visits & repair, online teleconference troubleshooting, online device diagnostics through the Samsung SmartThings App. Even these services are nowhere near other major brands right now.

So one brand might offer 2-Years warranty, but they might not be able to commit to their pledge through lack of infrastructure, or even lapses in their customer journey since the technical expertise of the accredited service center is not up to the standard of the brand or even worse..available parts are no longer available due to fast rollout of products.

My Suggestion: “If you can offer extended warranty “Samsung Care” to phones, why not TVs?”

Mahir actually kinda agreed to this but this is a more delicate industry with TVs as the quantity and user behavior is completely different. But hey, as TVs becoming more personal like smartphones this might be a good idea in the future. Hopefully Samsung Philippines can get a look into this proposition.

Hence, during the pre-order period lasy May 2023 still a bit hesitant I bought the Samsung OLED S95C for the love of experiencing OLED TVs. Technically Samsung is a new player in providing OLED TVs in the country and we simply wouldn’t pass this opportunity to see and feel the potential of this new OLED TV.

So there you have it, I’m sure you might have crossed the same question as I had. I’m glad that my burning question is finally answered. With this, hope you can now weigh out your TV purchase decisions especially with Samsung TVs if it’s in your shopping list.
