In Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (XBC3), players get to meet the formidable Ethel during the early parts of the game. However, due to an incident mid-game, she unfortunately disappears and leaves the team abruptly. Get to know if Ethel will return, how to get Ethel back, and more using this guide.
You can breathe a sigh of relief now as it is possible to get Ethel back and join your party. However, she comes back as a child due to events in the game. This bit comes later in the game and is optional so you there’s a chance you might miss it. Follow the steps outlined below to have Ethel return to your team.

The first step is to reach Chapter 6 and it really takes some time especially if you are bent on clearing every side quest that you encounter. This is the only time where-in the conditions required to get Ethel back are present.
Although not directly related, Ethel’s return is connected to Mio’s Side Story as it unlocks the next steps required. As this quest is essential to the game’s story, this is unmissable and you have to do it to progress.
Finally, after clearing Mio’s Side Story, backtrack a bit and return to Colony Omega to trigger a cutscene. This cutscene then develops into Cammuravi’s quest, which then leads to the reawakening of Ethel, albeit at a much younger state. After finishing this side quest, you can now get to Ethel’s Ascension Quest to get her to finally join your party.
To finally have Ethel back, you need to clear her Ascension Quest. Her Ascension Quest is directly connected to Cammuravi’s so clearing that nets you two classes with unlocked ranks. Not only that but her Ascension Quest is required for you to get her back to tip-top shape.
