Traversal Skill | Skill Description |
Wall Climbing | Allows you to climb up scalable walls. |
Rope Sliding | Allows you to slide down any affixed ropes. |
Scree Walking | Allows you to run up steep slopes without sliding down |
Hazard Neutralization | Neutralizes damage taken from walking over hazardous surfaces. |
Wall Climbing is a party skill that you acquire in Chapter 3 during the story mission “The Kind Right Hand” which is also Valdi’s Hero Mission. Wall Climbing is an essential Party Skill as it allows you to scale the purple/violet vines scattered around the game world. Not only that but it also opens a lot of areas in the map, giving you access to more quests, chests, and secrets.
This party skill is integral to the game’s story and cannot be missed. Once you reach the vines during the Chapter 3, you get to meet Valdi, triggering the quest “The Kind Right Hand”.
Another essential skill, Rope Sliding is acquired during Chapter 5 of the game. It is acquired after clearing Juniper’s Hero Quest “Natural Selection” in Colony Tau in the Pentleas Region.
As this skill is essential to the game’s main story, this encounter is unavoidable as the Rope Sliding party skill is required to traverse important locations in the rest of the game.
Read the Rope Sliding guide for more details.
The Scree Walking party skill allows you to climb up sand. It can be acquired as early as Chapter 3 of the game by taking on the quest “Going Beyond Power”, the Hero Quest of Teach (Thaumaturge). You gain it in the middle of the quest.
Scree Walking is an optional skill and can be ignored if you want to concentrate only on the main story. It is not needed in story missions and you can progress even without it. However, some treasures, side quests, and areas can only be accessed with this skill.
The latest party skill that you can acquire in the game, Hazard Neutralization, allows you to walk through poison or in toxic pools. It is optional and can be acquired by doing a number of side quests to trigger and finish Segiri’s Hero Quest, “Inhumanity”.
Similar to Scree Walking, Hazard Neutralization is not essential to completing the game’s story. However, it is helpful in navigating hard to access areas in the game as the poison can reset your location if your HP drops to zero.
