But is it worth it? Is it something you should try? Does your house need a new screen? Fortunately, we go those questions covered in our review below. Read on!

The XGODY Gimbal 5 is a plug and play device, meaning that it does not necessarily need a degree to setup. Simply plug it into an available power socket, turn it on and you can start with the initial setup. The device comes with automatic Keystone Correction, making it so that you can just point the projector at the wall/screen and it will automatically adjust its image output to line up with the surface. As the Gimbal 5 comes running on an Android 11 OS out of the box, it’s pretty simple to navigate and go through after you power it on. However, you just have to do a couple of things to make it fully functional…
Connecting to the internet and updating the XGODY Gimbal 5’s firmware to its latest version should be your priority after turning this thing on. Some applications such as Youtube and the device’s internal clock do not update automatically if you just use the firmware that the Gimbal 5 comes out of the box with. You can download the firmware update by simply connecting the device to the internet or manually via USB drive. We highly recommend downloading directly from the internet as it was hard to look for the manual download option.
A thing that surprised us is the length of the cord that comes with the device. The XGODY Gimbal 5 includes a 1.2m power cord. 1.2 meters, while lengthy, is not enough given that you will very likely have this thing in the middle of the room. The manufacturers could have included something along 2m or if they can go wild, 3m, just to make this thing more versatile in terms of placement.
When it comes to visuals, the XGODY Gimbal 5 displays clear images despite its size. Capable of displaying resolutions of up to 1080p, the Gimbal 5 produces good image quality and color that, when partnered with a decent projector screen, can rival TVs.
The XGODY Gimbal 5 Portable Projector comes with a single 3W speaker in its body. While it can produce sounds that is good enough for a small room, the single 3W speaker won’t suffice in wide and open areas. We recommend that you pair this up with a decent speaker setup for better volume and audio reproduction.
Although limited, the XGODY Gimbal 5 Portable Projector can also store files. It can store photos, music, and videos for you to play without having the need for an internet connection or a USB storage device. Note that the device can only recognize and play certain formats. Note that you can connect an external USB device for more storage.
When it comes to portability, we often times see compromises here and there. However, the XGODY Gimbal 5 is different. Portable as it is, it does little to no compromises in terms of quality. The visuals are on point and while it does require a screen to fully utilize, we have found that having a white smooth wall would suffice.
Although it comes with a 3W speaker, the audio quality of the XGODY Gimbal 5 is not worth writing home about. However, this weakness can be complemented by quality Bluetooth/USB speakers.
With all things said, we highly recommend the XGODY Gimbal 5 Portable Projector. The visuals are on point, it’s small and compact, and is also surprisingly easy to setup. We can even say that it’s a good (and very affordable) alternative to a TV or monitor. However, you also have to note that you need to have a projector screen (or a white smooth wall), a nearby wall socket, and speakers to enhance its audio capabilities.
