It seems Xiaomi is spearheading some of the most interesting innovations in the smartphone world. Earlier this year, they teased their new fingerprint scanning tech. This time around, Xiaomi is boasting their new 100W Super Charge Turbo charger that can fill a 4,000mAh battery in just 17 minutes.

A video has surfaced Xiaomi’s charger doing just that. Placed side-by-side by an OPPO SuperVOOC-compatible smartphone, Xiaomi’s 100W Super Charge Turbo was able to charge a 4,000mAh battery in just 17 minutes while OPPO was only able to reach 65% despite having a smaller 3,700mAh capacity battery.

In terms of numbers, Xiaomi’s new charging technology also outpaces the 55W Huawei SuperCharge of the Mate X. The latter having only promised 85% of battery charge in 30 minutes.

Although its speed is impressive, it could potentially reduce the lifetime of the battery. Fast charging does produce more heat compared to “normal” charging temperatures.

It is expected that the Xiaomi 100W Super Charge Turbo will make its official appearance tomorrow. Hopefully, the brand will also showcase products that will come with their latest charging technology.
