AMD has officially launched the Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000 series CPUs. They are introducing a total of 4 CPUs from the flagship 16-core, 32-thread Ryzen 7 7950X to the budget-friendly 6-core, 12-thread Ryzen 5 7600X.
The Ryzen 7000 series is based on a 5nm TSMC manufacturing process and will come with 13% IPC improvement over its predecessors and up to 29% better single thread performance. Clock speeds are higher as well with the flagship CPU boosting at around 5.7Hz compared to last generation’s Ryzen 9 5950X, which sported a max boost of 4.9GHz.
AMD boasts up to 35% better performance in games in its flagship and up to 48% uplift in rendering. Performance improvement can also be attributed to the new AM5 platform getting access to faster DDR5 memory.
Power efficiency has been addressed by AMD as well with the Ryzen 9 7950X getting 47% better performance per watt while still maintaining 62% greater raytraced performance when compared to the Intel Core i9-12900K in V-Ray benchmark.
Efficiency when compared to the Ryzen 5000 series, the Ryzen 7000 CPUs will sport up to 62% lower power at the same performance while delivering up to 49% more performance at the same power.
