ASUS unveils ultraportable ROG Flow X13 and ROG XG Mobile GPU

ASUS has officially announced their latest ultraportable gaming machine, the ROG Flow X13. Weighing in at just 1.35kg, the device has been made to work in tandem with the XG Mobile GPU in order to deliver the best performance possible while on-the-go or while docked.

ASUS ROG Flow X13

The ASUS ROG Flow X13 has been made with portability in mind. It only weighs in at 1.35kg and has a thickness of only 15mm. Despite its portable nature, ASUS was still able to pack in an AMD Cezanne Ryzen 7 or 9 CPU depending on the variant. It also comes packed with up to 32GB of LPDDR4X RAM, up to 1TB NVMe SSD, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti.

You can get a 13.4-inch display available in two versions: a 16:10 FullHD IPS screen running at 120Hz with 100% sRGB and is Pantone validated; and a 16:10 UHD IPS panel at only 60Hz but has a higher 116% sRGB rating and is also Pantone validated. Regardless of the screen choice, both will support touch input.

Though the ROG Flow X13 already has a capable GPU inside, ASUS is making their ROG XG Mobile GPU available to those users who require a bit more graphical oomph. The modular dock can be outfitted with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 and is powered by its own power supply. It even expands I/O support to include additional display connections.

There are a couple of caveats with the ROG XG Mobile GPU. It seems that it is not using a more standard Thunderbolt 3 connection and instead using ASUS’ own proprietary connector. The brand claims that this was done in order to take full advantage of the eGPU.
