Aside from having the Apple brand, the biggest draw for social media lovers to the iPhone X is its Animojis. It seems that Huawei is working on its own tech that will bring over the iPhone X’s Face Recognition and Animojis to their future smartphone.

Using structured light 3D sensor at the front of the smartphone, the Huawei is able to create a model of the user’s face with 300,000 points in just 10 seconds. Huawei claims the smartphone’s lock will disengage within 0.4 seconds.

This tech also allows Huawei to make their own take of Apple’s Animojis. Much like the iPhone X, you can create goofy and creative animated messages. Other parts of the face are tracked like the tongue.

This is only a proof of concept and haven’t been implemented in any smartphones from Huawei yet. It seems that these might be next trends aside from dual cameras and 18:9 displays in future smartphone models.
