MHR Sunbreak Afflicted Monsters – How To Beat

More Powerful & Damaging

What makes the Afflicted Monsters different from Master Rank ones? They have far more HP and hit harder. Also, all of them have a move called “Anomaly Burst”. They also inflict Bloodblight, a status ailment first seen in Malzeno. Use Master Rank weapons and armor, and upgrade them to the maximum before you venture out and try battling these challenging monsters.

Hit The Red Glowing Spots

Cores that explode display red damage numbers

When battling afflicted monsters, you’ll notice that they spawn red glowing spots around their body parts. Known as “Anomaly Cores”, hit these parts continuously until they pop and get destroyed. At the moment they get destroyed, these red spots explode, dealing a lot of damage to the monster. Use these spots to deal significant damage to prevent an Anomaly Burst.

What Is Anomaly Burst?

MHR Sunbreak Anomaly Burst

If you fail to deal enough damage to the monster while it is glowing red, it stops and charges for a couple of seconds and then explodes. Anything caught in this explosion is dealt a significant amount of damage and is left stunned. Be wary of this and do not over commit when attacking after some time has passed since the monster turned red. Most of the time, players getting caught in the blast are ones in the middle of combos.

Also, orbs of Qurio spawn and circle the monster after a few seconds. Getting hit by these can be deadly so keep distance and attack once these orbs pass.

What Is Bloodblight?

MHR Sunbreak Malzeno Bloodblight

When an afflicted monster hits you, chances are you’re going to get infected with Bloodblight. Bloodblight slowly reduces your HP but grants you the ability to get HP back by hitting the monster that infected you with it. It also reduces the effects of healing. This incentivizes aggression but as afflicted monsters are stronger, best be smart about attacking and going on the offensive.

Hit Qurio Easier With Other Players

MHR Sunbreak Afflicted Monsters with friends

MHR Sunbreak’s Afflicted Monsters are way easier when done with friends or other players. If you usually use only one weapon type, you might find it hard to reach and hit other parts of the monster. This can be remedied by having other players with different weapons to hit parts that you find hard to reach. Work with others and pop those Anomaly Cores to greatly shorten the hunting time.

Can’t Be Captured

One important thing to take note of is that afflicted monsters cannot be captured. While they can be trapped, you cannot use Tranquilizers on them to take them back home. Attack and battle until your slay and loot these afflicted monsters!
